Under the Instagram pseudonym ‘gameboycameraman’, Jean-Jacques Calbayrac takes photos using a Game Boy Camera. Launched in 1998, this type of digital camera produces extremely low resolution images: only 128 x 112 pixels. Calbayrac uses it to photograph his surroundings in London. At a time when we all produce sharply focused, polished pictures on our ordinary phones, his photographs look odd and nostalgic. A small presentation of this unusual low-tech art is on show in the lounge of the Hague Museum of Photography.
